What is The Neuroscience Initiative?

Welcome to The Neuroscience Initiative!

The Neuroscience Initiative exists for one overarching reason - to break down access barriers to an accurate and comprehensive neuroscience education.

There are many people who have a vested interest in learning about neuroscience, for professional reasons, personal, or anywhere in-between.

But there are significant barriers to accessing this information.

Outside of the arena of an expensive and demanding institutional program, it is difficult to find a structured approach to the subject area that ensures the construction of solid foundations in anatomy, the scientific method, and other critical foundational principles. Adding fuel to this quickly-growing fire - specialists aren’t often very good at speaking in language that most nonspecialists can understand.

Tragically, this combination of factors frequently leads those attempting self-education towards serious scientific misunderstandings and miscommunication.

This is where The Neuroscience Initiative comes in.

I infiltrated a major US university and for the low cost of $5,000 and a nervous breakdown per semester obtained this top-secret neuroscience information so that you don’t have to.

Jokes aside - I earned a BA in Cognitive Science and an MSc in Neuroscience, completed a neurology internship in a world-class movement disorders clinic, and spent many years working on various aspects of clinical and neuroimaging neuroscience research. Throughout that time I worked hard to keep at least one foot in the real world, working with patient groups, aspiring scientists, and medical professionals whose specialty is different from my own in order to learn what questions are most pressing and how best to translate between field jargon and more approachable language without sacrificing scientific accuracy.

The culmination of that work is here, where I am compiling these resources into structured guides aimed at those who wish for whatever reason to educate themselves about the brain, the scientific method, or any other neuroscience principles.
